30th Anniversary Sefer Torah Dedication
Dear Friends: In celebration of Gross Schechter Day School’s 30th Anniversary, we will fulfill the 613th mitzvah in the Torah together – writing a Torah scroll. This Sefer Torah (Torah scroll) will be the school’s first. For 30 years, the school has borrowed Torah scrolls from local synagogues for daily tefillot (services), teaching Torah reading, and other special learning programs. Finally, we will have our own! The Torah is the quintessential source of Jewish life and learning, as well as an everlasting symbol of our people’s strength and endurance. What better way for us to celebrate 30 years of excellence than by fulfilling the 613th mitzvah. What better symbol of Gross Schechter Day School’s lasting impact on the lives of our students, their families, and this community for generations to come! Most of us remember our Bar/Bat Mitzvah Parasha (Torah portion)…mine was Noach (Noah). Our students remember the first time they read Torah here at school, as well as the many values and lessons contained in the Torah. Perhaps your family has a favorite story in the Torah, or there’s a verse that has special meaning for you. You can pick any of these to dedicate in our new Torah scroll! Through this once in a life time opportunity, your dedication will:- Fulfill the 613th mitzvah
- Create a way to honor or remember special people or occasions in your lives
- Help Schechter obtain a new Sefer Torah and support the continued excellence of our program.
