Parents Association / Va'ad Horim

The Parents Association/Va'ad Horim is a volunteer membership organization of Gross Schechter Day School parents. Its leadership is comprised of a board of directors and committee chairs who are nominated and elected at the end of each school year. The entire Schechter community is encouraged to submit nominations for serious consideration. The primary goal of the Parents Association is to enhance and enrich the overall educational experiences of our children, parents and staff. We encourage you to join the Va'ad/PTO and show your support for the school and, most importantly, the students.

Teacher Appreciation Week Thanks!

Thank you to Sherrie Fleeter and Eileen Epstein for the planning and execution of Teacher Appreciation Week. Each day of the week, Sherrie and Eileen arranged for our wonderful teachers to receive some treat or item that let them know how grateful we are for all their hard work and dedication. Remember to take a moment yourself and write your child’s teacher a note thanking them for a job well done. The smallest word of thanks makes a big difference in a person’s day!

Batting for Boxtops

Here are the game standings as of Wednesday night:

1st grade* and 4th grade* are on 3rd base

3rd grade and 5th grade* are on 2nd base

2nd, 7th and 8th are on 1st base

Preschool, K, and 6th are in the dugout

*these grades are within 5 box tops of the next base (for 1st and 4th that means a home run and extra recess!)

It’s an exciting game so far. Stay tuned to see who makes the first home run!

Volunteers make all the difference!

Research has shown that parents who are more involved in their children’s school have more successful students. It is the dedication of our many volunteers that makes our Parents Association/Va’ad Horim programs possible.
