Physical Education at
Gross Schechter Day School has always been an intricate part of the
school curriculum. Each student participates in 90 minutes of activity
per week. Sports and activities for all grades include, volleyball,
soccer, softball, football, basketball, dance,
badminton, Frisbee, track, gymnastics, floor
hockey, and a variety of fun physical development activities.
Beginning with
kindergarten and first grade, the program concentrates in basic movement
and basic skills. Second and third graders concentrate on skill
development, and lead up games. Fourth through sixth grade
develops full sports activities. Seventh and eight grade
concentrates on sports strategies to compliment our after-school sports
program.
Our
sports program includes soccer, and boys and girls basketball
teams which compete with other area schools.
With our new school, we
are enhancing our gym program and expanding our after-school sports program.
We have a state-of-the art gymnasium with seating for spectators, plus our
own outdoor soccer, track and softball field.
