Science at
Schechter
Students live in a world of
rapid scientific and technological change, so it is imperative that science
instruction help them to cope with these changes. Our science program
enables students to understand and engage in scientific inquiry, develop
positive attitudes toward the scientific enterprise and to make decisions
that are based on evidence and reflect a thorough understanding of the
relationships between science, technology, and society.
The study of life
science, earth science, and physical science enables students
to
·
describe the relationship between the physical universe and the
living environment and to make
good decisions concerning this
relationship.
·
describe the relationship between structure and function of
organisms and their interaction
with one another.
·
use
the scientific method, scientific ideas, and scientific knowledge
to explore the world around
them.

Students learn to make
sense of the concepts presented to them using
observation, measurement, prediction, estimation, experimenting, classification,
hypothesizing, comparing variables, interpreting data, gathering evidence,
inferring, organizing data, developing models, comparing/contrasting, and
finding likeness or difference.
